Your chargers, your API. Wherever they are.
askacharge.com as the cloud OCPP server for the chargers that are yours: any brand, at home, at your holiday home or at your workshop, all together in Home Assistant, Node-RED or your own code. No open ports. The first one free.
It doesn't exist yet. Before building it we want to know whether anyone needs it. If you sign up, we'll only write when it opens, or if we need to ask you something to build it well.
What it will be
- Your charger connected to askacharge.com over OCPP (1.6J or 2.0.1), whatever the brand: the same platform businesses use today, with step-by-step guides by manufacturer.
- Your API. Live status, energy and power, start and stop, webhooks and an MCP server for AI agents. You bring the screen.
- Home Assistant from day one: the integration already exists and installs from HACS.
- Several places, one Home Assistant. The one at home and the one at the holiday home together, with no open ports, no VPN and no juggling manufacturer apps: each charger talks to askacharge.com over its own connection.
- The first charger, free. From the second one, a small yearly fee that we are still settling.
What it won't be
- Not for charging other people. No tariffs, QR payments or invoices: it is for your own chargers. If others use and pay for them (guests, tenants, customers), you want askacharge.com for businesses.
- Not local. Each charger needs internet. If you want everything inside your home with no cloud, Home Assistant's OCPP integration or evcc will suit you better, and it's fair you know that up front.
- Self-service. Guides, test server and email; no phone support.
