Where the setting lives
Unite: the charger's web interface (over its Wi-Fi hotspot —name and key on the label, same QR as the Webasto Charger Setup app— or over LAN), OCPP menu. DIP switch 3 must be ON. Next / Pure: hotspot NEXT-…, web at 172.20.0.1, Backend menu.
Step by step
- Unite: with the charger off, DIP 3 ON (enables the web; DIP 2 ON pins Ethernet to
192.168.0.100if you prefer cable). Power on. - Join the charger's hotspot and open its address in the browser (
192.168.1.1over the hotspot). Usernameadmin; password from the label (on older Vestel-platform units, admin: change it). - OCPP settings: OCPP Connection = Enabled; version 1.6; Central System Address = your brand's base URL (below); Charge Point ID = the one printed on the housing (e.g.
7000335522000003) or whatever you register. Save. - Network interfaces: Wi-Fi, Ethernet or SIM so it has internet. Restart. It shows as connected within a couple of minutes.
- Next / Pure: open
172.20.0.1withadminand the Master Password from the manual → Backend: Connection type, Connection URL = base wss URL; on Live units, SSL Client Mode = "Encrypt only – No authentication". Save and Restart System.
What to enter to connect it to askacharge.com
| OCPP server URL | wss://askacharge.com/askacharge/ocpp/your-brand — your-brand is your brand's identifier on askacharge.com (shown under Chargers → Add, with the full URL ready to copy). The charger appends its own identity; if your unit only has a URL field and no identity field, enter the full URL: …/ocpp/your-brand/identity. |
| Charge point identity | The same one you register in the panel when adding the charger. Case-sensitive. With Webasto, the serial number is the easiest choice. |
| Password | Blank by default. If you enable the charger's OCPP credential in the panel (recommended for units exposed to the internet), the username is the identity and the password is the one the panel generates: OCPP Security Profile 2. |
| Protocol | OCPP 1.6J (JSON) or OCPP 2.0.1. Subprotocol ocpp1.6 / ocpp2.0.1. |
| Before connecting | The charger must be registered in the brand with that identity; otherwise the server rejects the connection. Register under Chargers → Add. |
Where it usually fails
- If it connects but will not charge, the firmware is old: ask Webasto (now Ampure) for the update before touching anything else.
- A factory reset (button 5 s) wipes the OCPP and network configuration.
- If you change the hotspot name or key, the QR code for the Webasto Charger Setup app stops working.
If your brand isn't here
The procedure is always the same; what changes is where the setting lives: look in the manufacturer's app, in the charger's web interface (by its IP) or in the installer software for a section called OCPP, Back office, Central System or Server. You need to be able to enter the URL and, nearly always, the identity. If the field is locked or missing, the manufacturer has tied the charger to its own platform: read what to do when the manufacturer locks or switches off its server.
