Where the setting lives (it does not)
Nowhere. The Home Flex is set up with the ChargePoint app (Wi-Fi, amperage, schedules) and talks only to the ChargePoint cloud; there is no web interface and no server field. Integrators that support the unit list it as "OCPP: not supported". ChargePoint did announce in 2023 that it adopts OCPP across its network, but that refers to interoperability between its cloud and other networks (roaming, third-party hardware inside its network), not to a setting the owner can touch.
What you can do today
- Check what you have. Home Flex (residential): no OCPP for you. CT4000, CP6000 and other commercial stations: tied to the ChargePoint network with its service fee; the owner does not choose the platform either.
- If what you need is to control power or schedule at home, the app does it; for solar or tariff charging there are platforms that manage it through the car (vehicle API), not the charger.
- If you need to manage it with your platform —tariffs, cards, several units, invoicing— it cannot be done today with a Home Flex or with a ChargePoint commercial station outside its network.
- If the charger is for a business and you have not bought it yet, choose one with an editable OCPP URL and ask for it in writing. The brands below are checked one by one.
- If ChargePoint opens the field on the Home Flex, this page changes the same day. It is dated in the header.
Where it usually fails
- "Adopts OCPP" in a press release does not mean "you can change the URL". ChargePoint is the clearest example: OCPP between clouds, not on your charger.
- ChargePoint commercial stations stop working as a network if the fee stops being paid; they do not fall back to an open mode.
- A charger "with an app" and a charger "with OCPP" can look identical in the shop. The question to ask in writing is whether the OCPP server URL is editable by the owner.
If your brand isn't here
The procedure is always the same; what changes is where the setting lives: look in the manufacturer's app, in the charger's web interface (by its IP) or in the installer software for a section called OCPP, Back office, Central System or Server. You need to be able to enter the URL and, nearly always, the identity. If the field is locked or missing, the manufacturer has tied the charger to its own platform: read what to do when the manufacturer locks or switches off its server.
