Where the setting lives (it does not)
There is no setting for the owner. In the fact sheet FLO filed with NYSERDA's Charge Ready programme (New York), asked "Indicate whether the equipment uses an open standard protocol as a basic framework for purposes of network interoperability and for communication with the network services provider, and specify the protocol (such as OCPP)", the answer for the SmartTWO is "No", and the only network provider listed is the FLO Network. The CoRe+ specification sheet (January 2025) does not mention OCPP either: it communicates over a ZigBee mesh network with a separate cellular gateway. The units are sold with a subscription to FLO's management services.
What you can do today
- Check what you have. SmartTWO and CoRe+ go with the FLO network and its management subscription; we have found no published procedure to point them at another server.
- If you want another platform, ask FLO in writing whether your model and firmware allow changing the OCPP server. A written answer is what counts.
- If the charger is for a business and you have not bought it yet, choose one with an editable OCPP URL and ask for it in writing. The brands below are checked one by one; among North American ones, Grizzl-E, Autel or OpenEVSE.
- If FLO publishes how to use its chargers with another platform, this page changes the same day. It is dated in the header.
Where it usually fails
- A charger showing up in third-party apps (maps, roaming) does not mean you can change its server: that is FLO's network sharing data, not OCPP for you.
- Fact sheets from incentive programmes such as NYSERDA Charge Ready are a good source: the manufacturer has to answer in writing whether it uses OCPP.
If your brand isn't here
The procedure is always the same; what changes is where the setting lives: look in the manufacturer's app, in the charger's web interface (by its IP) or in the installer software for a section called OCPP, Back office, Central System or Server. You need to be able to enter the URL and, nearly always, the identity. If the field is locked or missing, the manufacturer has tied the charger to its own platform: read what to do when the manufacturer locks or switches off its server.
